The Law, Societies, and Justice program held its annual convocation for the Class of 2017 on Thursday, June 8th. The ceremony began at Kane Hall where each graduate was called up to the stage by a faculty member, who read out the student’s future plans or favorite LSJ memory. Several LSJ students shared fond memories of classes, study abroads, and connections with faculty and classmates, while others spoke to their future plans of law school or social justice work.
During the ceremony, several members of the LSJ community were also recognized for their outstanding work. Students Lindsey Townsend and Anna Mikkelborg were awarded the Ezra Stotland Award for their academic achievement in the program. The Community Service Award, recognizing both academic achievement and community service, was presented to Xavier Chao Frank. Emina Dacic was honored with the Karin Stromberg Award for Contribution to Social Justice for impressively combining high academic achievement and contribution to the advancement of social justice.
This ceremony was followed by a reception at Grieg Garden where graduates and their families could celebrate with delicious refreshments.
Thank you to all the friends, family members, faculty and staff who joined us in celebrating the Class of 2017. Congratulations to the exceptional new Law, Societies, and Justice graduates, and welcome to the LSJ Alumni Community!
